Original songs, remasters of tracks worth hearing properly, and video covers built for songs that never had one.
Making games means needing music. That is how this started, though by now some songs arrive before the game they were meant for. Finished tracks and videos go up on the YouTube channel.
It runs on three tracks. Original songs. Remasters — pulling older pieces up to something you can actually put in your ears today. And video covers, building visuals for songs that only ever existed as audio. A surprising number of good tracks are stuck in the sound of the year they were made, or have nothing to look at.
On the original side, recent work has been re-singing Korean songs in other languages — City Girl in Japanese, The Soviet Cosmonaut Packed a Shotgun in English. Less translation than rewriting the song in that language.
It feeds back into the games. The faction themes for Cascade Hindcast are being chosen by running real historical folk melodies through different arrangements.
Systems and features
- Original songs — written, composed, and mixed here
- Remasters — bringing tracks stuck in the sound of their decade up to something listenable now
- Video covers — building visuals for songs that only ever existed as audio
- Music videos — a short drama or animation built for the track
- Language ports — rewritten in the target language rather than translated
- Game soundtracks — faction themes for Cascade Hindcast, among others
- Subtitles on everything — people leave foreign-language songs that do not have them
